Earth Tool Company, manufacturer of HAMMERHEAD® trenchless products, announces the release of HAMMERHEAD MOLE® Catamount™ easy-start piercing tool, a breakthrough design concept in pneumatic piercing tool technology. The new 2.5-, 3- and 4.375-inch feature “Smart Head” technology, based on proven down-hole hammer technology that eliminates the need for a mechanical spring, a common source of failure in many tool designs. Its design also allows easy starting regardless of air pressure level. Reciprocating heads increase production in tough conditions but have a tendency to swim in softer, sandier soils. The new Catamount Smart Head design takes full advantage of reciprocating head technology by increasing production in both tough AND softer soils while dramatically reducing tool swim at any operating pressure.

The tool body has been redesigned to provide better product life than anything now on the market. All wear surfaces of the head are field replaceable. Catamount piercing tools feature the patented POWER PORT® quarter turn reverse, which pneumatically locks into forward and reverse to prevent accidental direction change during the bore.
